Song 6 - Lost
We continue along the path through the woods. After a while, a small, man-
like creature, a spriggan, jumps out from the trees and tells us we can’t go
any further. When we refuse to oblige, the spriggan jumps about in
annoyance, takes out his pipe and plays a driving tune, which brings on a
thick mist. The mist is so thick that the path can no longer be seen. The only
choice is to follow the sound of the tune and he leads us away from the
path…
At length, the tune and mist fade, along with the daylight. In the dark
of the forest, we realise we are lost but see small, colourful, dancing lights.
On closer inspection, we see they are beautiful, winged figures who are
encouraging us to follow them. We follow and enters a hidden, inner part of
the wood. We stay lost in this place for a very long time and forget our
previous life…
One day, we accidently stumble back to the outer wood. Feeling so
lost and drained, we can hardly stand, we lean against a tree and find
ourselves saying, “Treebeard”. Treebeard appears and guides us back onto the
path and our journey! Members of prog folk rock band, “Spriggan Mist”
have augmented this track with additional instrumentation and vocals.
Song 7 - The Track
We are back on the path and feeling energised and focussed as we move upwards.
Song 8 - Rise Again Hear a live version of this song
Smoke appears on the horizon. A massive fire has destroyed everything ahead and
reducing everything to ash. Feeling lost and sad we wish desperately for help and
discover a miracle. We find Treebeard has left a seed in our pocket. We can’t see how
it will help and throw it down in despair. Watered by our tears, this magical seed
sprouts and renews the land, even brighter than before.
Song 9 - The Crossroads Hear a live version of this song
A crossroads appears on the journey. Which way to go?
Song 10 - The Mountain
The path we choose rises up a mountain so high that it’s top is lost above the clouds.
We slog up until it gets very steep, where we have a panic attack. Stopping, in alarm,
we look around and, seeing the beauty of the landscape below, we are filled with a
tremendous energy, helping us to continue, up through the cloud layer, into a vista of
cloud sea and islands of rocky peaks.
Song 11 - The Pass
At the top of the mountain, the “higher path”, above the clouds is guarded by a
mighty Gryphon. The Gryphon questions us to make sure we are ready to walk this
higher path. The path is along the mountain ridge, connecting the rocky islands but
hidden in the cloud layer, so you have to walk it ‘blind’. Brian Gulland with 70s
founded medieval, prog folk rock band, “Gryphon” has added bassoon and recorder
instrumentation to this track, which brings their band’s character to life.
